MES Consultant

Location:

  • Denmark or Europe-based candidate preferred
  • Remote possible, with expected 1–2 visits to factory in Denmark
  • Remote possible within 2–3 hours of CET

Role Overview

We are looking for an MES Consultant with strong experience in manufacturing processes, MES solutions, requirement gathering, and structured solution evaluation.

The consultant should work closely with the Smart Factory team, especially supporting the detailed and time-consuming parts of MES evaluation and selection. The role is expected to be hands-on and execution-oriented, helping translate operational needs into structured requirements, comparison models, and decision material.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Proven experience in manufacturing environments and a solid understanding of shopfloor processes
  • Hands-on knowledge of MES solutions and their role within the broader manufacturing IT landscape
  • Strong skills in requirement gathering, stakeholder interviews, workshop facilitation, and documentation
  • Good understanding of enterprise and manufacturing system architecture
  • Experience assessing current processes, identifying gaps, and defining improvement opportunities
  • Experience benchmarking MES vendors / solutions against business, functional, technical, and architectural criteria
  • Strong understanding of integrations between MES and related systems such as ERP, SCADA, PLC, historian, and cloud / platform solutions
  • Ability to align business requirements with scalable and sustainable solution designs
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to bridge business, operations, and technical teams
  • Ability to work in a detailed, structured, and execution-heavy role rather than purely advisory work
  • Experience with MES systems (e.g., AVEVA, Siemens) is welcome but not mandatory

Expected support from the consultant

  • Gather, structure, and document business, functional, technical, and architectural requirements
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and operational needs in detail
  • Assess the current application and integration landscape
  • Define and maintain evaluation criteria for MES benchmarking
  • Execute structured comparison of MES solutions / vendors based on requirements, architecture fit, scalability, integration capability, and long-term suitability
  • Prepare and maintain supporting materials for workshops, evaluations, and decision-making
  • Support stakeholder alignment through clear documentation, meeting preparation, and follow-up
